        ​The story introduces Shankar and Mukti in what appears to be a doomed or conflicted romance. One scene shows a bruised Shankar arriving at Mukti's haldi (pre-wedding) ceremony and pouring "Ganga jal" on her to "wash away her old sins," suggesting themes of loss, longing, and a complicated relationship.

         While the full story hasn't been revealed, the teaser suggests a passionate, yet turbulent and obsessive love story, often referred to as being from the "world of Raanjhanaa" but with a greater dial-up on rage and intensity.
​        The film revolves around the characters Shankar (Dhanush) and Mukti (Kriti Sanon). Their love is shown to be volatile, featuring passion, obsession, and pain. The story is set in Benaras. The teaser opens with a dramatic scene at Mukti's haldi (pre-wedding) ceremony, where a bruised Shankar, who has just returned from his father's funeral, arrives. He pours Gangajal (water from the river Ganga) on Mukti, bitterly telling her to "wash her old sins" before starting a new life. In a moment of deep heartbreak and rage, Shankar almost curses Mukti, praying that she gives birth to a boy like him.
