The film marks the debut of celebrated fashion designer Manish Malhotra
as a film producer. He established his production house, Stage 5
Productions, in September 2023. Malhotra has often stated that his
entire life and career were inspired by his childhood "ishq" (love) for
Indian cinema, and production is his way of giving back to the industry.

the film, along with Shivank Kapoor. The 1990s setting allowed for a

or "Nonsensical Love"). The name was changed to Gustaakh Ishq: Kuch

Vijay Varma is predominantly known for playing intense, negative, or
grey characters in recent years. He expressed excitement about shedding
that image to play a "gentle, poetic lover" in this film, describing the

where Naseeruddin Shah was a teacher, though they weren't in the same
batch. Varma had long idolized Shah and worked backstage in his theatre

primarily around Amritsar and Delhi. During filming, actress Fatima Sana
Shaikh had an epileptic seizure episode on set, which Varma described
